How to Multiclass
Upon reaching level 33, a character has the option to multiclass. Basically, multiclassing means you become a new class that is a hybrid of old current class and a new one of your choosing. This new class is called a sub class. You will be level 1 of this new sub-class, and still possess all the skills/spells from your previous class. The only trick is that you can't use all those skills/spells right away - If you gained access to a skill at level 10 in your old class, you must reach level 10 of your new class before you can use that skill again.
Before you can multiclass, however, you must either find and kill an NPC known as Tokenboy, or raise a certain amount of gold. Once you meet one of these conditions, simply locate the master of the class you which to become and type the command MULTI.
Choosing a full path
The main goal of multiclassing is to go from first class to avatar of that same class, which picking up a set of sub-class skills along the way. This involves multiclassing 4 times, with the 4th multiclass taking you to the avatar class.
Each time you multiclass, you must pick a new base class that is different from any base class you have been before. This means that if you are a first class warrior wishing to multiclass, you must pick your new class as either thief-based, mage-based, or cleric-based. You CANNOT pick a second warrior-based class. To continue the example, lets say you went from warrior to thief-based (the assassin class) and are ready to multiclass a second time. You started as a warrior and now you are considered a thief, so you must pick from either mage-based or cleric-based. If you pick mage-based, then when you are ready to multiclass a third time you have only one option: cleric-based.
Note that each time you multiclass you have less options the next time around, with the third multiclass having only one option. This is what is referred to as a character's path, and it is highly recommended that you choose a full path before multiclassing the first time.
