| Many travelers have told tales about the Forbidden Swamp of Vaandergash. The most popular and well told story is about the pirate Dread Derrick. Rumor has it that Derrick traveled to the swamp to stash a considerable treasure, but was never seen again, but most people believe he made a new life for himself somewhere else.
Some years ago, a powerful clan decided to send an expedition into the swamp, in an attempt to locate and retrieve the treasure, but no word has been heard of them since.
Dense undergrowth and a humid atmosphere lead to a profusion of insects and animals. Some of these have been catalogued, but very little work has been done recently. Very few people who have entered the swamp have returned, but those that have tell tales of spirits and wraiths bent on corruption and evil.
Any attempts at mapping this region have turned up fruitless, as the paths seem to change frequently. The dynamic nature of the many pathways help to confuse and disorient people. Be warned, few people have returned.
